Nature's Procession

The leaf clings to life

Connected by a stem, its umbilical

To the mighty tree

Emerald and fragile

Alive yet breathless

It dances with the breeze

Under Autumn's cool touch

The leaf absorbs light

Reflecting the sun itself

But the stem shivers

Too weak to grip the branch

And slowly tears away

Descending, spiraling

The leaf graces the ground

To join Autumn's scenery

Trampled yet esteemed

Decaying but vibrant

In its death emerges beauty. ~M.M. Bylo
